Description
The town of Tolosa, with nearly 20,000 inhabitants and located a few kilometres away from an important city, has experienced an increased demand of new homes. The construction of these seven story blocks provided up 400 apartments that solved part of this demand.
The structure, its design and execution were conditioned by the location, since it is confined by two roads at different levels.
ULMA Solution
In order to compensate the existing sharp level offset, slabs were designed at different heights. RAPID slab formwork with SP Props was the optimum system chosen to carry out the construction works. Worker safety was a constant throughout the project, including erection and dismantling. Handrails and nets under formwork were used as safety systems, consisting of the most effective solution for avoiding when laying the timber boards.
ORMA system showed its performance as vertical formwork. It bore the horizontal loads of perimeter walls during concrete pouring. Its assembling and disassembling simplicity enabled reaching the requested construction pace.
The columns, of multiple dimensions, were completed with ORMA and LGR Column Formwork. The latter, with a plastic shuttering board, consist of light panels that provide a perfect fair-faced concrete finish.
The entire structure was made of concrete: lightened slabs and reinforced concrete walls.
