Description
The 795 m long bridge has three separate carriageways: two of 13.36 m width for vehicular traffic and a third of 12.76 m for trams, pedestrians and bicycles. The bridge has 10 between 45 and 160 m long spans.
ULMA solution
ULMA supplied the material for the construction of the steel-concrete composite bridge deck, abutments, piers, overpasses and retaining walls. A form carrier consisting of standard MK system components was used to build the bridge deck wings. This structure split into 3 modules to ease the assembly provides the necessary stiffness yet without making the structure excessively heavy. Moreover, it offers a standard custom-made solution and thus ensures maximum cost-effectiveness.
To increase the pace of works, 12 form carriers of 25 m length each were used. Concrete pouring starts at the centre of the span with two form carriers moving in opposite direction towards the respective piers. Thus in each stage 25 m long stretches are poured. The form carrier moves forward to the next bridge segment by means of a simple wheel system.
The light weight of the MK system components eases the manual assembly of large structures. This way, the use of the crane remains reserved to the lifting of structure modules previously assembled on the ground. This was a fundamental factor to reduce costs of the project.
