El Salto Viaduct, Santiago, Chile

Versatile shoring in difficult terrain
It is a three span viaduct bridge with spans of 55.9 and 60 m measured along the central axis of the viaduct.

Description

It is a three span viaduct bridge with spans of 55.9 and 60 m measured along the central axis of the viaduct. The bridge deck consists of two "box beam" type steel beams supported on two piers and two abutments.

    • Bridge deck width: 21.7 m
    • Curvature radius: 370 m
    • Superelevation: 6,9%
    • Inclination: 7,4%

ULMA solution

Given the uneven terrain, T-60 shoring towers were erected at different heights. A consistent surface required as support for laying the steel beams was thus provided.

Small, low T-60 towers eased the assembly of these beams and their subsequent lifting to heights between 16 and 20 m.

BRIO Modular Scaffolding was used as auxiliary means of access to workplaces.

The partnership between ULMA and the customer with respect to design and work execution led to an optimal result.
