Description
NVE and Ål municipality are collaborating on the construction of the new concrete bridge over the river Kvinda. This new bridge will be the replacement for the existing one that was damaged due to the extreme weather suffered in this area.
ULMA solution
ULMA was required to design a solution for the new KVINDA bridge. The main requirement from the customer was the necessity to avoid any shoring support in centre of span because of the water flow.
The deck was 12,9 metres long, 11,5 metres wide and 0,8 metres thick. Abutments were deviated.
Then, ULMA proposed the use of steel profiles to create a gantry between abutments. Due to the loads and the span length, DIPE-600 profiles were used. This gantry system would be supported by MK-150 shoring assembled on the concrete foundations under the abutments. Finally, the horizontal formwork was HMK formwork consisting of MK-120 beams and VM timber beams.
All these products are included in our ULMA catalogue for projects where the loads and the capacity of the system has to be big enough.
