Groundbreaking parking garage in Columbia, MD
Located in the Lakefront District in Downtown Columbia Maryland lies a new groundbreaking 86,000 square foot medical office building that reaches up to 4-stories with a multi-level parking garage attached. We were honored to be part of this important project to focus on their parking garage that consists of 23,700 sf per level.
There are plans to expand this project even further by introducing residential space and more retail space in the area attracting a large crowd of nature enthusiasts to this location. ULMA is proud to play a significant role in this building’s development, allowing for our customers to achieve the goal of being green with LEED gold certification and recycling all materials delivered.
For this job, our engineering team and the client decided to use one of the most complete shoring solutions for any slab configuration, the FORMADECK system, to support slabs from 8” to 26”. This solution has fewer parts compared to our competitors with 47% more productivity and 13% less weight, using up to an 8 x 8 grid is a product capable of saving labor, freight, and rentals. FORMADECK is also highly adaptable and is available in different grid configurations for use in various slab designs. The contractor chose the MEGAFRAME TOWER system to be used for shorter ramp heights, only about 6.5’ in height; along with our ENKOFLEX system being brought for beam support in depths up to 50” on this project. MEGAFRAME is a steel frame handset shoring system, designed to work most efficiently on a great variety of construction projects. Our C6 CHANNELS were used to cover the 14' openings, avoiding assembling towers from the ground. We strive to achieve unlimited security with our systems by providing protection to those who are on the jobsite and/or around the sites.
