Up and Coming Apartment Complex in the city of Charlotte
ULMA is honored to play a role in this project by providing our shoring solutions to an up-and-coming apartment and retail space in the south end of Charlotte, North Carolina. With heights reaching up to 212ft, this building contains up to 370 units apartments and a ground floor with 18,700 square foot of retail space, making it an ideal location to reside in. The building is near the center of Charlotte, and in an area filled with a lot of activity. This building has sought after amenities that residents enjoy such as high ceilings. Being a part of this complex project allowed ULMA to cultivate a high-end solution utilizing products to ensure stability.
By analyzing this modern apartment and retail building with 26 levels, we selected our FORMADECK system for shoring up to 15’ high slabs, with 8” to 26” changing in thickness. Our FORMADECK system demonstrates how a handset system facilitates maximum labor productivity and reduces formwork cycle time.
Then we used our MEGAFRAME towers on this project, assisting in general beam support for up to 32” and providing a re-shoring ramp of 26’ tall. The FORMADECK system allowed the shoring design to take advantage of the larger props’ spacing in standardizing the shoring process of this building by primarily using the 8'x8' grid, maximizing productivity.
At the transition level with thicker slabs we used the same shoring system, adding more stringers as intermedium sports to hold the additional load, and reusing as much of the material as possible that is on site. Cantilever platforms were provided for the walkway minimum area requested by the client, presenting safety solution to work at the perimeter area of this high building.
