We are proud to have been a part of this exciting unique space in the heart of downtown Athens, Georgia. The Classic Center Areana provides an outstanding special event service space with a wide range of entertainment options. This facility has the capacity to hold 8,500 people where a variety of occasions can take place such as concerts, sports tournaments, and general sessions. It is expected to allow visitors to access a multitude of hotels, restaurants, and shops. The Classic Center Arena consists of 5 levels of slabs, three levels were made of concrete and the remaining two levels with steel decking. We have provided our ULMA forming and shoring systems to speed productivity to this jobsite.
ULMA Solution
ULMA Form Works provided many solutions with our systems; The handset MEGALITE system were used for forming the lower walls of up to 2’ to 10’; but can be assembled as a gang if necessary or recommended. This allows us to move along in utilizing our one-sided wall foundation system called UCAB-EUC. A single sided formwork system that calculates and is designed to withstand concrete pressure, with anchors on the ground and no ties passing through the built walls.
Both our climbing formwork systems KSP PLATFORM and BMK were used for the four core walls. Reviewing all possible interference, they were designed to be 100' high requiring an anchor that was guided by an engineer to be placed during the previous concrete pour. This allows our systems to demonstrate how versatile it can be for any solution needed for the job. Our KSP PLATFORM system is used for the interior walls, being the best solution for elevator shafts, bridge piers and others. This provides support and a platform to the wall formwork and can be used as a working platform to carry out various tasks. In addition, the CLIMBING BRACKET BMK system is perfect for walls located on the perimeter of the building and for supporting the formwork.
One of the shoring solutions we used was our ENKOFLEX system up to 24’ in height that included ALUPROP and braces for assembling stable towers. This is a slab/beam formwork system adaptable to almost any type of slab and height configuration, and the ALUPROP are lightweight aluminum props that can be used for shoring and re-shoring purposes. We used the ENKOFLEX system with ALUPROP shoring for the slabs with aluminum stringer 7 ½” and aluminum joist 6 ½”. Another shoring system used is the MEGAFRAME system that was up to 51’ high tower shoring system.
