Description
The Westin Libertador Hotel in Lima, with 30 floors and 118.55 m high, became a challenge for Peruvian civil engineering. The VR Table, NEVI and COMAIN formwork systems were used in the execution of this project.
The five star hotel and conference center is located in San Isidro, one of the most important business districts in Lima. The building rises from a 7,543.40 m2 lot, and has more than 75,000 m2 constructed area.
This structure is erected on top of a 4-level basement, and houses the conference center, nine meeting rooms, two restaurants, and the 301 room hotel from the 5th to the 30th floor.
ULMA Solution
Since it is a building of significant height, the slab execution was carried out with the VR Table system. This formwork was assembled at the beginning of the project, including the post shores, and was transferred (without disassembling) from one area to another using a crane. Once the concrete was poured and voided the required resistance was obtained, the post shores were retracted. With the assistance of the Trolley VR, it was faced outwards for the crane to move the material.
The lifting of the table was carried out by means of the Hook VR. In this manner, it was positioned on the indicated plane, fixing it to the lower slab. Afterwards, the reinforcement was placed and the perimeter overhangs were carried out. The application of this system entailed a savings of between 50-60% in labor.
The VR Tables were used as of the fifth floor, since the structure of the hotel varies from floor to floor. A solution based on a platform with walers that maintained the same position in the subsequent floors was proposed. In this manner, the table had no trouble in moving.
On each floor, 50 easy to handle tables were used, which resulted in high construction work performance. The transfer of tables was 12 units per day.
The ALUPROP Aluminum post shore was used for the shoring of the beams and the slabs. This resulted to be ideal, since the building had double heights of 6 to 6.50 m, and this post shore reaches a height of 7 m thanks to the Supplement 1 m.
As far as the execution of the columns and pedestals, NEVI and COMAIN formwork were used.
